How can I benefit from having a virtual visit with a lactation consultant?
CareVitality’s lactation consultants are trained experts in breastfeeding to help you with your specific needs. The lactation consultants are trained on the most recent evidence based protocols for breastfeeding.
In your initial appointment, our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) will review you and your baby’s health history and understand the issues/ concerns you are experiencing. Additionally, our lactation consultants will complete a feeding assessment to find any additional problems to find solutions. At the end of your visit, our lactation consultant will complete a customized breastfeeding care plan for you to follow along with any patient education to support you in being successful breast feeding. The care plan will be accessible in your CareVitality account.
How many virtual visit with a lactation consultant does a typical mother need?
It depends on your situation, most mothers need one visit and others may decide to schedule a follow up. It depends if you have additional concerns that need to be resolved as you are breast feeding.
Are your lactation consultants internationally board certified?
Yes, all of our lactation consultants hold credentials as International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. This board certification consists of a detailed lactation education, a lactation clinical internship and passing the board exam. Additionally, to make sure our lactation consultants are up to date with the latest evidence based practices they must recertify every 5 years and retest every 10 years to be part of our team to hold the IBCLC credential.
Do I need to schedule an online/ virtual visit with a lactation consultant?
Yes, our therapists are available through scheduled sessions. To schedule an appointment that works best for you there are three (3) options:

Once you finish your appointment if you need follow-up visits you can schedule it with your therapist at the end of your session or at a later date. Our lactation consultants are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Is my virtual lactation visit secure and private?
Absolutely, we pride ourselves on keeping your patient information secure and private. This is a top priority for CareVitality. We provide healthcare cybersecurity consulting to health systems and practices for over a decade and we have designed our system to be private, secure, and HIPAA-compliant for your online visit.
Do you record my virtual/ online lactation virtual visit?
No, we do not record or store your virtual/ online lactation visit to ensure security and privacy of your information.
How much does an online/ virtual face-to-face visit cost with a lactation consultant?
If your employer or insurance company offers a telehealth benefit then it would be your co-pay or meeting a deductible. Please set up your account to see which services are available to you and their cost. Also, we accept HSA and FSA plans.
If you are self-pay, it is $129 for an initial 50-minute visit or $75 for a 25-minute follow up call
This a 50% savings compared to the average national cost is between $300 to $150 for an office visit.
Am I able to see a lactation consultant online if I am traveling to a different state?
Yes, just select the state are in to seek care and you will be provided a list of our international board-certified lactation consultants available in that state.
